🏕️ Jeep Club SA Bonniedale Camping Weekend | 1 – 4 May 2025 🚙

Get ready for a Jeep adventure like no other! Join us for a long weekend of epic trails, breathtaking mountain passes, and camping under the stars at Bonniedale Holiday Farm, deep in the Outeniqua Mountains. This trip is packed with scenic off-road routes, historic ox wagon trails, and some of the best 4x4 challenges in the region!

🚙 Day 1 – Thursday, 1 May 2025 | Cape Town to Bonniedale

• 📍 Meet: Engen Winelands
• 🏁 Route: Barrydale → Tradouws Pass → Boosmansbos → Doringkraal → Seekoeigat → Wadrift → Gysmanshoek → Jan Muller → Attaquaskloof → Bonniedale
• 📏 Distance: 380–400 km (150 km gravel)
• ⏳ Drive Time: ~7 hours
• 🛻 Trail Conditions: Suitable for off-road trailers/small off-road caravans

We’ll take the scenic tar roads to Barrydale, then switch to some of the less-traveled back roads, tackling seven breathtaking mountain passes before reaching the historic ox wagon route into Bonniedale Holiday Farm, where we’ll set up camp for the next three nights.

• Last fuel stop: Barrydale
• Next fuel stop: George (Day 2, afternoon)
• Ensure you can cover 350–380 km without refueling, or plan for a detour.

🚙 Day 2 – Friday, 2 May 2025 | Langkloof & Seven Passes Adventure

• 🏁 Route: Bonniedale → Louvain Guest Farm → Duiwelskop Oxwagon Pioneers 4x4 Trail → Bergplaas → Old Seven Passes Road → George → Bonniedale
• 📏 Distance: 280–300 km (120 km gravel)
• ⏳ Drive Time: ~7 hours
• 🛻 Trail Conditions: Technical 4x4 sections on Duiwelskop

We’ll travel off the beaten track through the Klein Karoo to Louvain Guest Farm, where we’ll take on the Duiwelskop Oxwagon Pioneers 4x4 Trail—a rugged and historic route with steep climbs and spectacular views. From Bergplaas, we’ll descend into the forests and follow the Old Seven Passes Road past Saasveld into George, before returning to camp.

🚙 Day 3 – Saturday, 3 May 2025 | Bonniedale 4x4 Trails & Relaxation

• 🏁 Trails Available: Oxwagon, Footloose, Sunbird, Honeybush, Goliatsberg, Bymans
• 📏 Distance: 20–30 km (depending on trails)
• 🛻 Trail Conditions: Technical off-road routes available for all skill levels

Spend the day exploring Bonniedale’s 4x4 trails, including:

• ✅ Honeybush Trail – Features the infamous 43-degree John Tom Pass
• ✅ Oxwagon Trail – A historic off-road route
• ✅ Goliatsberg & Sunbird – Breathtaking viewpoints

Or take a break from driving and enjoy:

• 🌊 A swim in the pool
• 🦜 Hiking & birdwatching
• 🎢 Flying Fox Foefie Slide at the dam

🚙 Day 4 – Sunday, 4 May 2025 | Return to Cape Town

📏 Distance: 400–500 km (various route options)

We’ll pack up camp and head home, with alternative scenic routes available for those wanting to extend the adventure.
